Vote for . . .

A year ago Mariah ran for Freshman class officer. She was the only one who put up posters and handed out campaign treats. Other than helping decorate or make posters for assembles and football games there wasn't really much to the position but it was just enough to spark her interest in choosing Leadership as an elective class for the upcoming sophomore year.

Last spring ASB (Associated Student Body) interviewed students for their fall 2008 Leadership class. Mariah brought in videos and pictures of Mutual actives she had helped planned; she was interested in Lunchtime Activity chair. In the interviewing process it was interesting to us what they asked Mariah. The student officers (pres, vice-pres, etc) asked her about her values and standards. During her interview she mentioned she was LDS and sparked a real interest with the teachers who head the class. For the last several years there has been LDS students in ASB. We learned Mr. & Mrs. Hurtodo love the LDS kids because they work hard and don't party. Mariah was chosen for ASB; it turned out she is the only sophomore that made it. The class has keep her busy with all the high school's activites. Mariah loves her class and the kids she works with. -Vickie

Nice work on the blog Vickie. It's fun to see pictures. I have read the blog and my opinion is that you should keep it up and Mariah can start her own someday. This is the story of your life right now...Mariah! But you should throw in a picture of you and Leo sometime and talk about the fun stuff you do! But don't worry, most people just write about their kids on their blogs so you are doing just fine!

Good for Mariah! Ali just graduated, but spent most of her HS career in Leadership. She was a Soph class rep, Jr. Class VP and was elected Studentbody VP/Sr. class Pres. She loved it and it was so good for her! Our HS loves the LDS kids too!
